Athar Missing People Register

About this register

A shared record of missing people, published with their families’ permission

Athar is a public register of missing people, run by the Athar Family Support Office in Damascus together with local organisations in Syrian towns.

We believe every name published may reach someone who knows something: a neighbour, a colleague, a traveller who saw them on a road. So the pages are open to everyone, and the information form is simple.

In return we protect families: no picture is published without written consent, no reporter’s phone or address ever appears on the site, and every report is read by a member of the team before it is published.

How the register works

1

A family reports

A relative fills in the report form, or an organisation supporting the family sends it.

2

We review with the family

The office team reads every report and contacts the family before anything is published.

3

The page is published

A picture is shown only with the family’s recorded consent, and the reporter’s number never appears.

4

Information arrives

Anyone who knows something writes it on the page — it reaches the team only and is never published.

Families’ privacy comes first. Nobody is asked to reveal their name in public. What you write in the information form reaches the office team only and is never shown on the site. A family may ask for the picture, or the whole page, to be withdrawn at any time.
